Biografía/Biography Fields of the Nephilim nació en 1984 en Inglaterra. Nephilim, son personajes mitológicos de la cultura aramea, una especie de divinidades gigantes. Para 1984, Fields Of The Nephilim significó una banda básica dentro de la escena gótica naciente. Su estética, a diferencia de las bandas de entonces, cambiaba las crestas y pintura negra por un peculiar atuento cowboy, atuendo que los caracterizaría a lo largo de toda su trayectoria musical. Sus letras siniestras (H.P.Lovecraft, entre otros) y sus rasgos psicodelicos, influenciaron a varias bandas de rock gótico.
